Most
people that have only seen Mono Lake through pictures know it from the
south side, where the Tufa towers have visual dominance catching the
morning sun against a background of the steep eastern wall of the Sierra
range. But Black Point dominates the northern edge of the lake. Most
days in the summer will find this area blowing hot, dry dust off every
footprint left in the dark, volcanic soil. On this day the area seemed
almost lush and serene, and the design elements show off the best of
the northern shore.
